The NSRI recently unveiled a brand new sea rescue boat, named the Jack and Irene in posthumous homage to Jack and Irene Riley. The boat will be docked at NSRI’s Station 9 for those who wish to come get a look at the new craft.
The boat is capable of speeds up to 38 knots and can go approximately 8 hours at top speed before needing to refuel. It features two 150 horsepower Yamaha engines, and will serve as a search and rescue craft, holding up to six crew members. The boat recently took one final test voyage from Table Bay to Gordon’s bay in order to make sure all systems were functioning properly. NSRI welcomes those who want to get a close up look at the boat to visit its harbor training station on the weekends.
